Totalcomp’s Smart Remote (TSR) series
of displays is a major advancement in display technology. It actually learns
- making the installation of this remote display automatic and virtually
foolproof.
Plug-in the unit and connect the
communications line to the TSR’s circuit board via simple plug-in screw
terminals. Power up the unit and be greeted by "HELLO", then push the
"learn" button.
The TSR, through a series of automatic
pre-programmed sequences, will thoroughly analyze the transmitter source. The
TSR learns and stores at the touch of a single button
all source parameters, capturing them in it’s non-volatile memory and calling
them up upon each power-up. All characteristics are stored until the user
initiates another ’learn’ sequence.
Whenever there are any changes in the
transmitter source, all the user needs to do is initiate another
"learn" session and all the parameters will be automatically updated.

Parameters
The TSR reads, learns and accepts all of the following
parameters:
- Serial input - accepts and recognizes RS232C,
20ma current active and 20ma current passive.
- Line polarity.
- Line speed (for use with speeds ranging
from 300 to 9600 baud).
- Transmission characteristics - parity (odd,
even or none), stop bits (1 or 2), and data bits (7 or 8).
- Transmission Data Format - Characteristics of
control characters ( such as line feed or character returns) are determined
and stored.
